Alive folk poets and minstrels in Gaziantep region: A collection-exemination

When we revise the historical process of the tradition of minstrelsy in Anatolia, we observe that the tradition of minstrelsy in Gaziantep is weaker than the other regions. For this reason, we specified our study on folk poets and minstrels who live in Gaziantep regardless of their birth place. Before field work done, literature was scaned. Especially, regional studies about the tradition of minstrelsy were revised. The most important goal of our study is to introduce bibliographically researched folk poets and minstrels and bring them in literature. Some concepts in the tradition of minstresly are explained with regard to common characteristics of the city. The researched minstrels are introduced and their place in the tradition is examined with by studying on their works. Key words: Gaziantep, The tradition of minastrelay, Minstrel, Folk poet
