Investigation of the effect of traditional games and educational games on the attitudes of justice, corporation and honesty among 4th grade students

Aim: The aim of this research; The aim of this study is to examine whether educational and traditional games have an effect on the development of 4th grade students' attitudes towards core values such as cooperation, honesty and justice. In addition, it is aimed to reveal the difference in the attitudes of justice, cooperation and honesty according to the gender variable of the students participating in educational and traditional game practices. Materials and Methods: Experimental research model, one of the quantitative research methods, was preferred in this study. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the 4th grade students studying at Çağatay Uluçay Primary School in the Yunusemre District of Manisa Province constitute the universe of the research. Convenience sampling method was used in the research. "Fair Behavior Scale", "Honest Behavior Scale", "Helpful Behavior Scale" and "Personal Information Form" were used to collect research data. Since the skewness and kurtosis values of the results obtained from the scales applied to the sample group did not fit the normal distribution, non-parametric test techniques were used. Findings: When the results for the fair behavior scores were examined; A significant difference was found in the control group and traditional games group in terms of selfish behavior sub-dimension and fair behavior total score. When the results for the honest behavior total score, the helpful behavior total score and the helpful behavior sub-dimensions were examined, a significant difference was found in the educational games group and the traditional games group. According to the results of the analysis made according to the gender variable, a significant difference was found only in terms of the total score of fair behavior. Result: According to the results of the research, it was determined that physical education and game lessons supported by traditional games and educational games positively affected the attitudes of justice, cooperation and honesty in 4th grade students.
