Abstract (EN)
The increase in kinesiobia may negatively affect the quality of life, activities of daily living and balance. Kinesiophobia is one of the most important factors affecting quality of life and balance.Accordingly, our aim in the study was to examine the effects of kinesiophobia on balance, activity level of daily living and quality of life in geriatric individuals. The study conducted for this purpose consisted of 50 individuals over the age of 65 (average age 73.48), who came to Acar Clinic between December 2021 and May 2022 and met the inclusion criteria. The data were evaluated with SPSS statistical analysis. The participants were evaluated with the Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale (TSK), Berg Balance Scale (BDI), Barthel Activities of Daily Living Index, One Leg Standing Test, SF-36 (Short Form 36) and Socio-Demographic Form, and the relationship between them was analyzed. As a result of the review; • There is a positive and significant relationship between age and Kinesiophobia (p<0.05). Therefore, as the age increases, the level of Kinesiophobia also increases. In addition, in our study, there is a negative and significant relationship between the Balance Scale, Activities of Daily Living and Quality of Life scale of the geriatric individual's age (p<0.01). For this reason, the averages of Balance, Activities of Daily Living and quality of life scale decrease as age increases. Another important result of our study is that there is a negative and significant relationship between Kinesiophobia Balance Scale, One Leg Standing Test, Daily Living Activities and Quality of Life scale (p<0.01). Test, Activities of Daily Living and Quality of Life scale's averages decreased and had a negative effect. Another important finding in our study is that as the balance level increases, the averages of the One Leg Standing Test, Daily Living Activities and Quality of Life scales increase and have a positive effect, so there is a positive and significant relationship between them (p<0.01). As a result, it has been determined that the results obtained from the data in this study are related to each other. It has been shown that kinesiophobia has a negative effect on balance, activity level of daily living and quality of life in geriatric individuals. The data obtained as a result of the statistical analyzes supported our hypotheses Keywords: Balance, Quality of Life, Kinesiophobia in the Elderly.
