Child delilnquency in the context of migration and gender: Gaziantep sample

This thesis aims to exemine juvenile delinquency within the context of migration and gender is presented. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze the factors influencing children's propensity to engage in criminal activities, considering the dimensions of migration and gender from a sociological perspective. In line with this objective, in-depth interviews were conducted with fifteen children identified as involved in criminal activities by law enforcement agencies, as well as three social workers operating within the scope of Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. The collected data were subjected to phenomenological analysis, leading to the extraction of codes and themes pertinent to the subject.According to the findings, the study reveals that migration and gender are closely associated with juvenile delinquency. It is determined that boys are more prone to criminal involvement compared to girls. It is evidenced that gender roles, societal expectations, and cultural norms play significant roles in shaping the propensity of children to engage in criminal behaviors.Moreover, the study indicates that migration impacts children's involvement in criminal activities through economic, educational, and cultural dimensions. The results emphasize the importance of developing preventive intervention strategies such as social services, educational programs, and family support mechanisms to prevent children from becoming involved in criminal activities and promote their rehabilitation.In conclusion, this research underscores the necessity of comprehensively understanding juvenile delinquency within the context of migration and gender to prevent criminal involvement and ensure effective rehabilitation. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of adopting efficient approaches within the justice and penal system to reintegrate children into society after their engagement in criminal activities.
