Migration fact, asylum-seekers and human rights

It is seen that the phenomenon of migration, which has existed with the history of the world, has taken place with different reasons and methods in every period. In our age, as a result of individuals' desire for a more comfortable life, war, conflict and pressures, people's desire to migrate has increased, and it tends to continue to increase. Asylum movements, which reflect the irregular state of migration, take place in such an environment. Asylum migrations encountered around the world in recent years and the rights violations experienced by these people have made asylum movements a serious problem that should be dealt with first. Millions of people fleeing wars and conflicts in countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq choose Europe and other developed countries to seek refuge. They are faced with difficulties that even endanger their lives in this migration journey they embark on to reach the destination countries they have chosen. The intensification of asylum and refugee movements and the practices of some countries towards asylum seekers have directed the attention of the whole world to this issue. Asylum seekers, who represent the irregular state of migration, face many rights violations in this process. However, these people who are only looking for a place of refuge also have certain rights that must be respected. Therefore, there is an important link between asylum and human rights. The aim of this thesis is to explain the human rights violations that asylum seekers face during the asylum process, which is one of the results of intense asylum movements, with current examples. In the research, the phenomenon of migration has been elaborated in order to understand the reasons of the refugees who migrated compulsorily and generally irregularly. In addition, one of the aims is to reveal the seriousness of the problem by focusing on the current situation of immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees in the world and in Turkey with statistical data and to shed light on the bigger problems that societies exposed to this intense migration may encounter. The fact that the size of the problem has become serious and that it is growing gradually cannot be a justification for violations of rights. It is an exhausting and difficult process for so many people to hit the road and seek asylum. On the other hand, the extent of the change in the lives of the countries and people affected by the refugees is also a serious problem. At this point, acknowledging the existence of both situations is the first step towards solving the problem. In this sense, the situation of these people who left their country to find a place of refuge is not only the responsibility of certain countries like Turkey, which carry a serious refugee burden, but also of the whole world. It is thought that it is possible to prevent violations of rights no matter how many asylum seekers migrate. In addition, it is vital that the societies affected by asylum seekers and refugees are not harmed by these asylum movements. For these reasons, it is considered that human rights violations and adverse effects on countries will be prevented by taking the necessary steps and regulations in the international arena without delay.
