Determination of quality characteristics of some Vicia taxa growing in meadow-pastures and natural vegetations in the southeastern anatolia region of Turkey

The aim of this study is to determine quality characters of some Vicia taxa collected in natural lands of Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Results were ranged from lowest to highest for crude protein (CP) 14.09-25.83%, dry matter (DM) 90.84-92.60%, acid detergent fiber (ADF) 15.39-31.56%, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) 28.28-49.04%, acid detergent protein (ADP) 0.38-1.28%, digestible dry matter (DDM) 64.31-76.91%, dry matter ıntake (DMI) 2.73- 4.24%, relative feed values (RFV) 116.8-220.01. In terms of quality values of ADF, NDF and ADP, Vicia cracca subsp. stenophylla; DDM, DMI and RFV V. assyriaca; CP and DM V. sativa subsp. incisa var. cordata gave the highest values. In terms of the mineral materials, Phosphor (P) ranged from 0.34-0.51%, Potassium (K) 1.47-3.75%; Calcium (Ca) 0.89-1.97% and Magnesium (Mg) 0.26-0.39%, K/(Ca+Mg) 0.656-2.847 and Ca/P 1.757-5.548. When the Vicia taxa are examined in terms of quality standards, V. assyriaca and V. noeana var. noeana was in the prime group, which is the highest value in terms of all investigated properties.
