Evaluation of ongoing treatments of psychiatric patients within the framework of confidence in the doctor, restricted fredoom and the internalized stigma

Some of the factors affecting the treatment process of mental illnesses are: trust in the physician, internalized stigma and limited freedom. Patients who have communication problems with the physician, who are stigmatized by themselves and their environment, and who are exposed to negative situations in the process of receiving mental health services; feels restricted and has problems in compliance, continuation and satisfaction with treatment. In this process, social work intervention is very important in order to minimize the problems experienced by patients and facilitate adaptation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the treatment attendance status of patients applying to mental health services in terms of trust in the physician, restricted freedom and internalized stigma on the basis of social work discipline. The sample of the study consists of 225 patients who received service from the psychiatry outpatient clinic of Muş State Hospital. Frequency Analysis, Independent Sample t-Test and ANOVA Test were used in the analyses. As a result of the research; Participants who had no communication problems with the physician, who approved the treatment, and who found the duration of the examination sufficient, had a higher mean of Trust Communication Scale in the Patient-Physician Relationship. The mean of the Internalized Stigma Scale in Mental Illnesses increases as the duration of treatment increases. Treatment success rate in mental illnesses; Trust in the physician, limited freedom and internalized stigma affect participation in treatment.
