Evaluation of total oxidant, antioksidant status level and oxidative stress index in hyperemezis gravidarum etiopathogenesis; prospective clinical study

Material and Methods: İn this study, 30 healthy pregnant women and 30 hyperemezis diagnosed pregnant patients with no addiotional disease were compared in terms of Total oxidant status level (TOS), Total antioxidant status level (TAS) and Oxidative Stress İndex (OSİ). İn two groups, some biochemical markers were assessed as total oxidant status level, antioxidant status level, human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (hCG), throid stimulating hormone, body mass index (VKİ), crown rump lenght (CRL), C reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell levels ( WBC). Statistical analysis were performed. P value < 0.05 was accepted as significant. Results: Total oxidant and antioxidant status levels of two groups were statisticaly insignificant (p: 0.574 and 0.205 respectively). There were no any significant differences between hCG, TSH, CRP, WBC levels between two groups. VKI of the disease group was lower than control group (p: 0.004). As gravida increases, hyperemezis clinical signs and symptoms were observed lesser ( p: 0.02). Conclusion: Total oxidants and antioxidants seem has no role at the etiopathogenesis of hyperemesiz gravidarum. New studies are needed.
