Spelling featers of Hz. Uthman's mushafs and the value of import in terms of kiraat

Revelation, since it was revealed to The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), has been recorded by writing on different writing materials. Written verses have been not turned into a Mushaf in this period. During the reign of Hadrat Abu Bakr (r.a.), the need for the compilation of the Qur'an arose after the martyrdom of many Huffaz Companions in the wars. Due to the expansion of the Islamic geography during reign of Hadrat Uthman (r.a.), recitation disputes arose among Muslims in different regions. Hadrat Uthman (r.a.) established a commission of istinsâh (copy) under the chairmanship of Zaid B. Thabit (r.a.) in order to limit the disputes in question with their authentic ones and to ensure unity among Muslims. The Mushafs, which were copied on the basis of the Quraysh dialect, were sent to different Islamic cities in company with a Companion teacher. The Mushafs which were sent to the towns showed slight differences in terms of spelling. Predecessor scholars have conducted researches on some differences among the first Mushafs that Hadrat Uthman (r.a.) duplicated, and same Mushaf in which some words of the same structure which were written repeatedly in the same Mushaf, were written with different spellings and their orthographic features (Official-Mushaf) In our study, in the Mushafs that were copied during reign of Hadrat Uthman (r.a.) we examined the writing of the letters alif "ا", yâ "ي" and wâv "و" by reduction, the writing of the letters alif "ا", yâ "ي" and wâv "و" by addition, the writing of the same word adjoining in some places and separately in others, the spelling of hamza in various situations, the words in which the Mushafs are in agreement with orthography and the words in which the mushafs disagree on orthography under the headings.
