Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the genetic diversity, slaughter, carcass, and egg quality characteristics of domestic geese raised by the public in the Aegean Region's Uşak, Afyonkarahisar and Kütahya provinces. In order to determine the egg quality characteristics, a total of 96 eggs were obtained from 38-44 weeks old geese from 4 different points of each province, and a total of 48 (24 male, 24 female) geese aged 28-32 weeks were used to determine the slaughter and carcass characteristics. In the determination of genetic diversity, blood samples were taken from a total of 40 domestic geese from 4 different points. Among the provinces, the egg quality characteristics; shell thickness, and egg yolk color value were significant (p<0.05), and egg weight, shell ratio, and shape index values were very important (p<0.01). Slaughter and carcass feature; While live weight, blood, thigh, breast, and back weights were significant (p<0.05), hot and cold carcass weight, neck, and wing weights were found to be very significant (p<0.01). When evaluated on the basis of gender, in men; liver weight was insignificant, and the results in other characteristics were statistically very significant (p<0.01). In terms of slaughter and carcass rates; the blood, the liver ratio was significant (p<0.05), the feather, heart, gizzard, and neck ratio was very significant (p<0.01), while the others were insignificant. According to gender, when males compared to females, blood, feather, gizzard, neck, wing, and leg ratios were significant (p<0.05), head, foot, and chest ratios differed significantly (p<0.01), while other characteristics showed similarity. All samples in three provinces were correlated with each other in terms of PFGE profile. A major PFGE pulsotype was identified, and this main profile was divided into 3 subsets. Blood samples from Uşak province I. cluster; Afyonkarahisar II. cluster and Kütahya III. formed the cluster group. When the results were evaluated according to the PFGE technique, it was seen that all samples were genetically related. Differences between the detected averages; can be explained by factors such as feeding, care, age, genotype, climatic differences, storage conditions of eggs, measurement errors, and variability in the techniques applied in slaughtering and carcass shredding.
