The challenges faced by the class council teachers during the counselling activities in primary and secondary schools

The aim of this research is to determine the difficulties faced by the class council teachers during the counselling activities in primary and secondary schools. The research consists of five parts; introduction, relevant literature, methodology, findings and conclusions, discussion and recommendations. The class council teachers working in the primary and secondary schools in the district of Bağcılar in Istanbul in the academic year of 2012-2013 are covering the content of this study which is applied as a survey method. The sample of the study is of 202 class council teachers chosen randomly among from the teachers who are working in state primary and secondary schools in the district of Bağcılar in İstanbul. A questionnaire is used to get the required data. The survey consists of three parts. In the first part there are 6 questions that contain demographic information of the teachers. In the second part there are 39 questions to determine the difficulties faced during the counselling activities. In the third part the teachers may write their opinions related to the topic if they are willing to share.In this research, the difficulties that class council teachers face during the counselling activities working in primary and secondary schools are evaluated by the difference of the variables of gender, the length of service in the ministry of education, type of school, education level, graduated university, in-service training status. Survey data is interpreted by frequency,% (percent), t-test, ANOVA (one-way analysis of variance ) and the multiple comparison (post-hoc) test aiming at defining the differences in groups.
