The effects of creative drama on acquisition of the attainments of musical creativity learning domain in third grade music lessons in primary education

In this study, it was aimed to define whether there are meaningful differencesof acquisition of the attainments of ?Musical Creativity? learning domain between themethods provided in the curriculum and the method of Creative Drama in third- gradeMusic lessons in Primary Education.Pretest- posttest classic experimental research design with control group wasused in this study. The sample was two groups of students of third grade in a PrimarySchool in Bolu. The study included 52 students. In the experiment group and controlgroup, there were 22 and 30 students, respectively.For the definition of the meaningful differences in the acquisition of theattainments of Musical Creativity learning domain, evaluation tools developed for theassessment of the attainments were used before and after the 8- week learning period.The data were collected through evaluations of specialists. In the statistical datainterpretation, SPSS statistical application was used and together with basic statisticalcalculations, t- test statistics method was used according to the nature of allsubproblems.viAccording to the data obtained, posttest scores revealed meaningful differencesin favor of Creative Drama, when compared with the group taught by the methodsprovided in the curriculum. The results of this study suggest that Creative Dramamethod could be more effective for the acquisition of the attainments of MusicalCreativity learning domain in Music lessons compared to the methods provided in thecurriculum.Keywords: Music Lesson, Musical Creativity, Creative Drama
