The Internet using situations of elementary students of 4 th and 5 th grades

Internet has taken education out of the school and transformed school environments into educational centers. From this point of view, it became important how the elementary students use Internet at home and with whom they interact in this process. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the Internet using situations of elementary students of 4 th and 5 th grades, by taking the opinions of the students, their parents and teachers. This research is based on a survey test which is applied to the students, the parents and the teachers of Ibrahim Karaoğlanoğlu Elementary State School in Eskişehir, in the academic year of 2001-2002. 10 teachers, 17 students and 16 parents were interviewed in this study. The data of the study were collected by the use of semi-structure opinion survey which is one of the qualitative research methods, in order to determine students', teachers' and parents' opinions. Qualitative.analyzing technique was applied in data analysis and the results were presented numerically. IllAccording to the findings of the research, elementary students of 4th and 5th grades can not use Internet effectively and efficiently yet. However, it has been found that students are in a better situation than their parents and teachers in basic Internet using skills. IV
