Content validity study of the test of mathematical talent for 6th and 7th grade elementary school students

The purpose of this study is to investigate content validity of the Test of Mathematical Talent (TMT). TMT is composed of 12 subtests and each of the subtests includes 4 problems. Although validity and reliability studies have been carried out about TMT, there is no information about content validity of the TMT.Forty professionals in math education (20 mathematics teachers and 20 academicians), who teach or study math education at the universities and/or at the primary schools, participated this study. Participants were selected by convenience sampling method. Full version of the test and an evaluation scale for each subtest was given to the participants. At the end of the test, participants were asked to evaluate the TMT. All of the evaluations were conducted via the same evaluation scale. Reliability score of the evaluation scale was found as .72.Results indicated that the TMT is a well-constructed test. However, some of the subtests? content validity scores were lower than the average score or expected score.
