The effect of nature sounds on anxiety in patients intracoronary stent insertion

ABSTRACT The Effect Of Nature Sounds On Anxıety In Patıents Intracoronary Stent Insertıon Aim of the study is to the effect of nature sounds on anxıety ın patıents ıntracoronary stent ınsertıon. Universe of the study was established by stent implanted patients in the angiography laboratory of Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Education and Research Hospital, and the sample of the study was formed by a total of 114 stent impanted patients which were accepted to be involved in this research. This study was conducted in a prospective randomized and controlled manner. We calculated by the power analysis that 34 patients were needed to be involved in each group (PASS=Power Analysis Sample Size Software ). With a loss of 10%, group number was defined as 38. Demographic data were obtained by the researchers. Also with an aim of obtaining the anxiety levels State Anxiety Inventory (SAI), Visual Analog Skale (VAS) and Physical Measurements were used. For evaluation of the data, repeated measurement analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, numeric and percentage values, median, Chi-square, Spearman and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used. When the results of our study was evaluated we found that the difference between State Anxiety Inventory (SAI) scores of nature sound and ear plug groups with control group patients were statistically significant (p<0.001). When the Visual Anolog Scale (VAS) scores were evaluated, the highest average score was obtained at first measurement time interval and the difference of it with second and third time intervals were found to be statistically significant (p<0.001). As a result of this study; it was found that there was a significant relationship between ear plug usage and nature sound listening with anxiety in intracoronary stent implanted patients.
