Summary: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the world, in this study, blood samples were drawn from 45 breast cancer and 32 healthy control group individuals and their serums were separated The amounts of fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, β-carotene), water-soluble vitamins (C, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12), stress biomarkers (4-HNE, MDA), GSH, GSSG and amino acids in blood serums were determined by HPLC. The decrease in the amount of fat and water-soluble vitamins in patients with breast cancer compared to the control group, excluding vitamins C, B5 and B12, was statistically significant (p<0.001). The amounts of lipid peroxidation products 4-HNE and MDA were higher in cancer patients compared to the control group (p<0.05). Compared to the control group, there was a decrease in the amount of GSH and an increase in the amount of GSSG in cancer patients (p<0.01). The GSH/GSSG ratio of breast cancer patients was found to be lower than the control group (p<0.01). Levels of valine, tryptophan, glycine, histidine, thronine, proline, cysteine and asparagine were increased in the serum of cancer patients compared to the control group, while leucine, isolatinine, phenylalanine, methionine, lysine, alanine tyrosine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, arginine, glutamine and decrease in the amount of serine amino acids were observed (p<0001). As a result, it was observed that there was a decrease in the amount of water and fat-soluble vitamins and GSH in the serum of breast cancer patients, an increase in the amount of stress markers (MDA, 4-HNE) and GSSG, and changes in the amount of amino acids. From these results, it can be said that a serum-based screening test may be useful for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
