Abstract (EN)

Social sciences teaching methods and teaching techniques are very important for the social sciences teachers' especialy in the basic schools, because they can influence the quality of education process, learning and teaching, also the teacher's skills and qualification are very important to develop students. This research has prepared by many main aims and sub aims. So as to determine the social science teachers' qualifications and skills related to teaching methods and teaching techniques in the basic schools and how they use and organize the classroom environment. In this study survey method was used, and the data collection tool which used in the study was developed by Saunders in (2001), this data collection adapted by farooqi and Saunders in (2004), was also used by Iqbal farooqi and Saunders in (2006). The population of research is the social sciences teachers in the 32 basic schools in the Duhok province, and due to the fact of safety problems in Iraq the research can't be carried out in the Iraq population. According to the findings of the study, the gender distribution of social sciences teachers working in thirty two different accommodation units is very close to each other and the majority of them graduated from social studies undergraduate education. It was determined that there is a serious imbalance in the distribution of social studies teachers' per student and only three schools provided education in private schools in 32 schools. The findings of this research are that the class quotas in the school consist of forty and fewer students, for the social studies course this number is concentrated between 25-29 students, classes are fixed and moveable one by one respectively and in the classes where the social studies course is taught, mostly the fixed rows are used. According to these findings, it can be said that the students are able to perform independent study activities due to the fact that the classes are not crowded, and they are used individually. Based on the findings of the research, the following suggestions can be made; • A balance should be observed in the appointment of social studies teachers in schools. • The teaching methods and techniques chosen by social studies teachers during their lessons were insufficient in the persistence and function of the acquired knowledge. The causes of this situation should be investigated and if there is a reason for lack of information, training should be provided in this direction. • Teachers within the scope of the research should be encouraged to use field-specific methods and techniques. • Deficiencies in the use of teaching methods and techniques are also observed in measurement and evaluation approaches. Another important issue in this regard is that social studies teachers are lacking in authentic assessment types. Measurement and evaluation activities are open to discussion. As in the previous proposal, this situation should be considered in terms of the causal context.
