Abstract (EN)

AİM: The aim of our study was to determine the clinical significance and prognostic contribution of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and platelet mass index (PMI) in patients with acute ischemic stroke. MATERİALS AND METHODS: Between January 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022, the data of 321 patients with acute ischemic stroke who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the study. Parameters were evaluated according to ischemic lesion location, in-hospital Modified Rankin Score (MRS 1), MRS 3 months later (MRS 2), emergency outcome, and hospital outcome. RESULTS: Mean PLR values were lower in patients with a good clinical course in MRS 1 and MRS 2 than in patients with a poor clinical course (p values of 0.034 and 0.02, respectively). Mean NLR values were lower in patients with a good clinical course in MRS 1 and MRS 2 (p values of 0.010 and 0.014, respectively). No difference was observed between PMI values according to MRS 1 and MRS 2 (p values of p = 0.588 and p = 0.887, respectively). It was determined that PLR> 123.3129 (AUC = 0.571, p = 0.0255) and NLR> 3.0703 (AUC = 0.614, p = 0.0003) may have a poor prognosis in terms of in-hospital MRS. PLR>123.3129 (AUC = 0.571, p = 0.0266) and NLR>3.0703 (AUC = 0.605, p = 0.0008) had a poor prognosis for MRS scores three months later. It was determined that death may occur at values above 155.102 for PLR (AUC = 0.591, p = 0.0365) and 2.5377 for NLR (AUC = 0.631, p = 0.0024). In conclusion, high NLR and PLR were found to be associated with a poor prognosis. PMI was not significantly associated with poor outcomes or prognosis.
