Abstract (EN)

The main subject of this thesis is the activities carried out by the second vizier Mustafa Pasha, who took an active role in the Ottoman politics formed in the 16th century on the axis of East-West. He united the East and the West on his political character. Being the first governor to be appointed from the center was a transition period for Egypt in terms of Ottoman rule. In the 16th century Ottoman political reality, most of the Ottoman sources regarding Mustafa Pasha, who appeared as the Governor of Anatolia and Rumelia, the commander-in-chief of Rhodes, the second vizier and the Beylerbeyi of Egypt, were dumb. As a matter of fact, when the works of the contemporary chronic writers of the period are examined, it is seen that there is superficial and repetitive information about the Egyptian beylerbeyi of Mustafa Pasha. The fact that most of these sources provide incomplete or incorrect information about the period of his administration and the activities he has carried out in Egypt leads to the questioning of the health of the existing works of Mustafa Pasha in the literature. Among the available sources, the famous Mameluk Historian, Ibn Iyas's work called "Bedâyi'ü'z-zühûr fî- Vekâyi'i'd-duhûr" sheds light on the dark side of Mustafa Pasha's Egyptian administration. When all the sources in his period are examined, kadi of Damietta, Diyarbekrî's work called "Tercümetü'l-nüzhe es-seniyye fi-zikr el- hulefâ ve'l-mülük el-Mısriyye" gives the best details of the military, political and legal details of Mustafa Pasha's nine-month leadership in Egypt. This thesis was prepared with the cross-reading of the information available in the literatüre and one of the part of "Tercümetü'l-nüzhe es-seniyye fi-zikr el- hulefâ ve'l-mülük el-Mısriyye," which is titled "Nevâdirü't-Tevârih." By this way, it eliminates the prejudices of Mustafa Pasha's Egyptian administration and brings new discourses. Keywords: Mustafa Pasha, Egypt, Governor of Egypt, Vizier, Diyarbekrî, Nevâdirü't-Tevârih, İbn İyas, Bedâyi'ü'z-zühûr fî- Vekâyi'i'd-duhûr
