Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of detoxifying liquid additives for cats and dogs on rats. This thesis consists of two experiments. Wistar albino rats were used in both experiments. At the first experiment, rat were divided into 5 experimental groups: A: control group (commercial water), B: 20% Cat Detox group (80% water and 20% Cat Detox), C: 100% Cat Detox group (100% Cat Detox), D: 20% Dog Detox group (80% water and 20% Dog Detox) and E: 100% Dog Detox group (20% Dog Detox). At second experiment, rat were divided into 4 experimental groups: A: positive control (commercial water and normal feed), B: control group (commercial water and salt addition feed), C: Cat Detox group (80% commercial water, 20% Cat Detox and salt supplement feed) and D: Dog Detox group (80% commercial water, 20% Dog Detox and salt added feed). All experiment groups, except for the positive control group, were fed with 3% salt feed for 14 days and then with 7% salt feed for 14 days. In both experiments, feed consumption, water consumption, body weight and blood parameters of rats were examined. At the end of the two experiments, all rats were examined pathologically by necropsy. In addition, urine and fecal parameters were examined in the second experiment. As a result, salt poisoning in animals consuming 3% salt did not occur because there were no water restriction. When rats were consumed 7% salt, salt poisoning were observed on blood and urine samples of animals. The same level of poisoning was not observed in the groups consuming same level of detox products, and the results were similar to positive control values in Dog Detox consuming rats. According to results, Cat Detox and Dog Detox products were found to be effective aganist sodium-water intake imbalance and salt poisoning.
