Abstract (EN)

In recent years as a result of increasing population around the world, and technological developments in any industrial application areas, we begin to face the ``environmental pollution problem??, one of the most important problems of the world. Chemical detergents, water and electricity have been used for individual and industrial cleaning. It is obvious that this common cleaning manner will soon conclude in running out of natural energy sources all around the world. On the other hand, while the Sun is the main energy source of the world, because of the hole occured in the layer Ozone, radiation from the sun have been become dangerous for human skin and health. In order to keep the nature cleaner, to save the energy sources and to reduce cleaning costs, self cleaning paints are developed and commercially produced. Also it is revealed out that these paints serve as UV protective materials depending on the nanoparicles of TiO2 they include. TiO2 is a semiconductor which has a high photocatalytic activity. A series of redox reactions occure on the surface of this semiconductor when it is exposed to sunlight. In the study carried out for this thesis self cleaning dyes are applicated to woven fabrics by pad batch method, and the physical and mechanical performances, self cleaning properties and UV protection properties of these fabrics are investigated. The data obtained have been evaluated and compared on the basis of blends and structural fabric properties.
