Visual landscape quality assessment of waterscapes used in urban areas

With the increasing urbanization, the proliferation of concrete structures for people who stuck around his own creation water began to carry different meanings. People create spaces to meet the physical and psychological needs in the city, by arranging places they lived and their environment, they found refuge facilities to nature with water elements used in these places. Aesthetic quality of urban areas is profoundly affect human life. The characteristics of the spatial element and components which substantially forming these areas, makes this influence are their appearances. The purpose of the study, to reveal the impact of physical criteria of elements of water used in urban areas on aesthetic quality and the aesthetic quality differences between urban areas with water elements and without water. The biggest problem in landscape visual assessment, by determining the effect of visual quality of certain landscape elements, cannot be developed a comprehensive method in order to estimate what people chose. In this context, in this study, the material used for evaluating the aesthetic quality and methods are generated are the importance of the study. The main material of the study is formed by 60 photo belonging to 15 different urban areas and the subjects participating in the study. Completed by subjects were the photos are shown, evaluated by the Likert scale survey was used as the method. The subjects who are another important material of research, are undergoing training in different faculties landscape architecture students who have received designing training. To achieve the objectives set out in the findings section of research total-average tables, table relationships between different faculties and the average of the 23 the criteria, table consisting 'urban aesthetics' and 'water element' aesthetic in addition to guiding the work 'Urban aesthetics' average table and analysis have been revealed. According to the study results, compatible of fields of aesthetic criteria tables with the total table, relationship among aesthetic criteria (urban areas-water element), is related criteria physical criteria of the water element both water and urban aesthetics, and there is the difference of the aesthetic perception among the subject groups have been revealed.
