Sustainable tourism from coastal tourism to alpinism (Example of Burhaniye Edremit Kaz mountain)

Alternative Tourism consists of many different tourism types.In accordance with the alternative searches against classic tourism (beach-sand-sun) and demands of this era?s people,coastal tourism isn?t enough on its own, especially for adventurers.In our paper, first, the concept of ?sustainability? is analysed and talked about declaration, meetings and organizations which cause formation of this concept. The conception that forms the basis of sustainability `Taking care of next generation?s rights? and how this conception impressed the world literature is explained in details.In later parts, close attention between tourism and geographical elements, especially elements of physical geography, are tried to be formed and in this context, also, relationship between sustainable tourism and various elements, that constitute alternative value in the nature, are showed.The subject of how the organizational roles ,which have an effect on tourism , especially associations of government and non-governmental organisations affected or can affect sustainable tourism is studied.Tourist?s demands about variety,surely, will cause a variety in tourism market area.In fact,it is seen that with the adventurer tourism concept, individually organised trips are demanded more than trips organised by others and all inclusive price tours day by day.In general perspective of our index, deductive method is adopted; sustainability is analysed and is related with tourism. After explanation of recreation and tourism, a significant part of alternative tourism kinds, most of which are also leisure time activities, are analysed and general informations are explained.After relationship between our subject, sustainability and tourism is researched, classification about tourism characteristics of our field and potential analysis are studied. Present and potential tourism kinds are brought out with their features.Our thesis subject doesn?t sustain quality of fieldwork directly. More than tourism potential of field, sustainable tourism is stressed. As it is one of the rare fields in Turkey where coastal tourism and alpinism are performed such a close distance and to embody our fieldwork, an area sampling is chosen. In concluding section of paper prepared in the light of these informations, shortages of sample area are determined and solutions for these shortages are offered.We hope that our research will provide advantages to Geographical Sciences and geographers will have more active roles in the planning stages of tourism.Key Words: Sustainable Development, Alternative Tourism, Burhaniye, Edremit, Geotourism, Edremit Bay, Kaz Mountain.
