Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the cognitive flexibility levels and social competence levels of high school students according to their demographic information. The sample of this research was formed on a total of 426 high school students, 151 female students and 275 males, studying in the Beylikdüzü district of Istanbul, Turkey, in 2021-2022. The Personal Information Form was used to collect the demographic information of the participants in the study, and the Cognitive Flexibility Scale developed by Martin and Rubin (1995) and adapted to our language by Çelikkaleli (2014) was used to measure their Cognitive Flexibility. In order to measure social skill levels, Koydemir(2006), which was developed by Riggio in 1986 and adapted into Turkish by Yüksel in 1997, was applied to the "Social Skills Scale", which consists of transforming the 90-item scale into 30 items. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 25 program. The analyzes used in the research are Independent Groups t-test, One Way Variance Anova, Pearson Correlation, Regression analysis. While the data reveal that there is a relationship between the level of cognitive flexibility and social competence, the educational status of the parents does not show a significant variation according to the number of siblings. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between the level of achievement and the scales. In addition to these results, positive differences were determined in subscales according to gender, age, and class.
