Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to examine the treatment motivation and impulsivity level of the patients receiving inpatient treatment for substance use in the light of the obtained data and to investigate it's effect on the length of stay. 75 male patients, who were hospitalized for substance use in the Independent Living Association, participated in the study. Volunteer Information and Confirmation form, Socio-demographic Data form, Addiction Profile Index (API) Short form, Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS) Short form and Treatment Motivation Questionnaire were implemented to the participants, respectively. Statistical analysis of the research data was made in the SPSS v26 (IBM Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) statistical package program. 'BIS-SF' Total and 'Motor Impulsivity' sub-factor score of BIS was found to correlate with the length of stay for addictions (rs: -0,233; -0,276, p<0,05). No significant difference was found between the length of stay of the individuals hospitalized for substance use and the scores they received from the TMA, socio-demographic Data Form and API-SF. Our research showed that 'Motor Impulsivity' and 'BIS-SF Total', which are the BIS-SF sub-dimensions that express acting without thinking, may be risk factors in the inpatient treatment of substance use disorder. It is thought that the findings will be helpful in developing treatment protocols that can prolong the duration of treatment for individuals receiving substance use disorder treatment.
