Abstract (EN)

In my thesis, I focused on social media's ability to change political views, ideas, and opinions, due to the growing role of social media during the last decade (10 years), and about its important role worldwide. And to clarify the main idea, I have included examples from Arab countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and for sure, the Palestinian media. It seems that awareness has increased among people on social media, where young people are exchanging cultural, literary and political views, and it has recently been settled that social networking sites have become, for many young people in the Arab region, a free space dedicated to exchanging their opinions to demand improvement of the political, economic and social conditions, hence the establishment of pages opposing the regimes, which were organized in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Syria, reaching other Arab countries. As a result, some politicians used these means to communicate with people and build a direct relationship with them because social networking sites are considered the most important engine in mobilizing the masses and shaping public opinion. Even the regimes tried to control social networking sites, but all in vain, because social media is not centralized and cannot be controlled on the spot. Next in the paper, I talked about the Palestinian media, about its origins and its role in reporting facts and about the injustice practiced against it, and that with unlimited support from the United States of America and Western countries, the media of the occupation, with all its means, falsifies facts and conveys an image that serves its goals and its colonial regime. Influencers, journalists, and media pioneers have worked to highlight the facts, and convey them as they are, reviewing the crimes of the Israeli occupation, in their various forms and types, such as killing, displacement, demolishing homes, and committing massacres. The investment in social media platforms, as a means of media opposition, also contributed to exposing the traditional media supporting Zionism, which led Western and American colonial countries to restricting Palestinian content on social media.
