Investigation of spexin effect in stomach cancers and intestinal metaplasia

Although the incidence and incidence of gastric cancer has decreased in developed countries in recent years, it is the 4th most common malignancy worldwide. According to the 2015 data of the Cancer Department of the Public Health Institution of Turkey, gastric cancer is the 5th most common cancer in men and women. It is seen in the incidence of 17.1/100.000 in men and 7.9/100.000 in women. Despite advances in imaging methods, gastric cancer remains at the top of cancer-related deaths. Uncovering different new molecular targets and cancer etiology in cancer; It may contribute to early diagnosis, reduction of mortality, prediction of prognosis and even the development of new treatment strategies. Stomach samples (biopsy and radical resections) for the years 2015-2022 will be retrospectively scanned in the archive of Fırat University Pathology Department. Blocks and slides of 20 controls, 20 intestinal metaplasia and 60 patients diagnosed as "Stomach Adenocarcinoma" (20 grade I, 20 grade II and 20 gradeIII) will be selected. After the diagnosis is confirmed, 4 micrometer thick sections will be taken from the blocks of the cases and immunohistochemical staining will be performed for the immunoreactivity of the spex. Evaluation will be carried out under a light microscope. The degree of staining will be based on prevalence and severity and will be graded as histoscore. (Histoscore = Prevalence x Severity)
