Abstract (EN)
The retention of employees is a necessary criterion for any organization that seeks to achieve its organizational objectives and goals as well as creating and maintaining a competitive advantage in the market. The purpose of this study is to discuss the main factors that affect retention management, such as career opportunities and leadership in the Lebanese service sector and to show the role of the management in this area of study. This study will include definitions of key concepts like retention and turnover, as well as the types of factors that significantly affect the willingness of employees to leave or stay in a given organization, and how management can play its role in retaining employees. Based on previous research, the researcher concluded that a relationship exists between these factors and retention management. To reach the research objectives, the researcher used quantitative approach in collecting primary data; this approach used a questionnaire. First, the questionnaire was given in two companies in the service sector to 107 employees, 79 of which filled it in. The answers to the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS version 23, and the data collected showed main retention factors perceived as most important for employees (career opportunities, and leadership). These factors were analyzed using the cross-tabulation method to show the relationship between these variables. The researcher calculated the Pearson Correlation Coefficient to examine the strength of answers from the collected questionnaires. All the variables' coefficients indicate moderate to high strength of relation. The results of this study show that many reasons have an influence on employee to leave and that management has a role in controlling and using these factors in order to initiate some measures that will make the workplace more desirable for workers, and this will reduce their intention to quit. Keywords: Retention Management, Intention to Leave, Employee Satisfaction.
