Abstract (EN)

A European Project has been developed under the WoodWisdom-Net Research Program, knowing the potential of load bearing timber glass composite elements, for the purpose of meeting the future need. The countries in the international consortium are Austria, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Slovenia, Chile and Brazil. Serving as an interdisciplinary bridge, this project is being supported by universities, research companies and industrial partners alike. Participants with considerable experience in the field have presented this forest based international research and development project to the WoodWisdom-Net Research Program under the ERA-NET WoodWisdom-Net 2 project. Each country is being sponsored by their national financial institutions. The Scientific and Technological Research Center of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) is the Turkish national funds organization. With the international project title "The Application of Load Bearing Timber-Glass Composite Structures for Building Construction" has the Turkish title of "Ahşap-Cam Kompozit Yapı Elemanlarının Bina Taşıyıcı Sisteminde Uygulanması". The project aims to create practical constructional application methods by conducting long term atmosphere and strength tests on "timber-glass composite" beam, column, and curtain wall elements, to optimize the requested load-bearing system in the light of international data. It will therefore be possible for the product to be accepted in the construction sector and compete with other construction systems.
