1957-1960's Democratic Party within framework of opposition parties and press relations

Multiparty system, which desired to be implemented during Ataturk's period but hadn't been achieved, has found life in 1946. The most important of the opposition parties established during this period is undoubtedly the Democratic Party. Democratic Party soon attracted the attention of the public and proved itself that it's an alternative for ruling the government. Shortly after the establishment of the Democratic Party, the elections to be held in 1947 held a year early in 1946, despite the highly controversial election in favor of Main Power, it became the Main Opposition Party. The Democratic Party tried to overcome too many difficulties created by the Main Power and the Bureaucracy during this for years.In the elections of May 14, 1950 the Democratic Party had the chance of become a ruler by itself and kep the power for the next 10 years. These years are extremely important for Turkey's History of Democracy and during this time the relations of the Democratic Party with the opposition parties and the press have been frequently discussed. These relations which became very tense in between 1957 and 1960 are important because of their involvement in the military intervention. This thesis includes the difficulties faced by the Democratic Party in 1946-1950 and it's practices in 1950 and 1956. While trying to understand the reasons of the events happened in the last three years, the results of the tension between DP and CHP were also mentioned.
