Muhammad Ali Ali Al-Sâbûnî's approach to qiraats in his commentary "Revâi al-beyan fî Tafsîri Ayâti al-Ahkâm Mine al-Qur'ân

Qiraats have been one of the main elements of the science of tafsir in terms of richness of meaning and different approaches in the pronunciation and exegesis of Qur'anic verses. The tafsir entitled Revāʾi al-Bayān, edited by Muhammad 'Ali al-Sābūnī, is a work that is used by scholars at all levels. Due to the author's knowledge of Islamic sciences, his exegesis of the Qur'anic verses with short and comprehensible expressions by making use of sciences such as language, i'rāb, qira'at, etc. has made him successful. His success in concise expression in exegesis is also shown in his references to qiraat. This study deals with Muhammad Ali al-Sabuni's approach to qiraat in his tafsir of Revai al-Bayan ahkâm. It is aimed to clarify issues such as the author's criteria and principles in his approach to the Qiraat, his evaluation of the Qiraat in terms of linguistics, fiqh, meaning and tafsir. Many scholars have drawn attention to the relationship between qiraat and tafsir and fiqh. In the contemporary period, al-Sābunī, who wrote a work in the field of Ahkām al-Qur'an, also contributed to this field. We believe that analysing this work, in which the author combines the relationship between Qiraat and exegesis and Qiraat and fiqh, will contribute to the field of Qiraat and fill a gap in this field. The first part of the study consists of the life of the mufassir and the introduction of his tafsir Revā'i al-Bayān. In this section, the scholarly personality of the mufassir, his teachers and the students he trained, the opinions of the scholars about him, his tafsir aspect, his jurisprudential aspect and his sect will be discussed. In the second part, which constitutes the main body of the study, in addition to the general evaluation of the qiraats in the tafsir of Revā'i al-Bayān in terms of subject matter and authenticity, some specific concepts that we have found to be used in the tafsir related to the qiraats will be explained. Likewise, in the continuation of this section, the relationship between the differences of qiraat in the tafsir with Arabic dialects, the science of sarf, the science of nahiv and prepositions will be explained in detail with examples. In short, this study will reveal the approach of Revā'i al-Bayān, which has an important place in the literature of Islamic sciences, by evaluating it in terms of qiraats.
