The degree of consistency between the behaviors gained in the vocational high schools for girls which provide embroidery education and the practices in professional life

In this study, the degree of consistency between the behaviors gained in theVocational High Schools for Girls, which provide ?Embroidery Education?, and thepractices in professional life was determined.In the study, curricula of the Vocational High Schools for Girls were examinedand opinions of experts were asked by using questionnaires prepared parallel to theobjectives in the target behaviors program.Two separate Likert scale were prepared and applied in order to determine thenecessity of displaying the target competencies and behaviors for occupations of thestudents. The questionnaires prepared for hand and machine needlework were applied in 25enterprises determined randomly in both fields.The data obtained in the study were analyzed by the researcher by using statisticalmethods, arithmetic mean ( X ), standard deviation and ?t test? and the findings wereinterpreted.In the study, it was found that a significant portion of the students are partiallycompetent in displaying the target behaviors and in the evaluation conducted regardingnecessity of the behaviors, it was determined that the techniques that require long time arenot considered necessary.In the conclusions, expectation of the enterprises are indicated and suggestions arepresented. As the most important result, it was found that the enterprises want the students tobe more practical while they apply the relevant techniques, they adopt the work and theyhave knowledge on technology.A good communication between the enterprises and schools should be establishedand graduates should be employed. The curricula should be reviewed and reorganized in aform suitable for needs of the industry.
