Abstract (EN)
In this study, the life of the miniaturist Nusret Çolpan was examined and the analysis and the compositional features of his "Istanbul Mosques" miniatures were analyzed and evaluated. Nusret Çolpan was a miniaturist whose name is identified with the art of miniature and its history. He reflected his life, the cultural environment he was immersed in and his interactions to the present day with his city miniature style. Nusret Çolpan lived between 1952-2008. He took lessons from significant names such as distinguished professor Süheyl Ünver and Azade Akar. He trained many students, and made many miniatures of cities in Türkiye and around the world. Nusret Çolpan's ability to remain both local and original, and his addition of new styles to the art of miniature only highlights his importance as he's one of the substantial artists who was trained in this century. The most distinctive feature of Nusret Çolpan is that he brought a unique and new style to the art of miniature without breaking away from it at its core and still ensuring its continuity. In our thesis, interviews were made with Nusret Çolpan's family, friends and students, and his life was given in chronological order. Nusret Çolpan's view of miniature, his sensitivity while performing his art and the subtleties of his art are discussed with examples. Among the miniatures Nusret Çolpan worked on, only Istanbul mosques were analyzed and evaluated. In addition, events where all the works of Nusret Çolpan were exhibited were also included. This study aims to contribute to the literature in terms of better understanding the style of Nusret Çolpan, passing the compositional features of his miniature works to future miniaturists and guiding them.
