Abstract (EN)
Oğuz Atay, one of the leading writers of modern Turkish literature, described in his works intellectuals who generally live in cities, alone, unable to hold on to life. In his novels and stories, Atay frequently touches upon the relationship between object-human while he is dealing with the relationship of man with himself and his environment. Objects that do not generally have a positive meaning in these texts distress the character, overwhelm and prevent the character from self-realization. Therefore, the characters become alienated from the object and settle accounts with it. In the first part of the thesis, which consists of three main parts, Oğuz Atay's life, literary personality and works are given. In the second part, the theoretical framework is discussed in the context of the object-human-fictional text. In the third part, Atay's novels Tutunamayanlar, Tehlikeli Oyunlar, Bir Bilim Adamının Romanı: Mustafa İnan, Eylembilim and his story book Korkuyu Beklerken examine the relationship between object-human. As a result of the examination, it has been determined that Atay's works reveal the relationship of the characters with the object in different functions and roles. In these works, objects are used for setting fiction, psychological, atmosphere/character building and historical/sociocultural functions. Key Words: Oğuz Atay, novel, story, object, human.
