The effect of school leadership on teachers' perceptions of organizational justice and organizational citizenship behavior: A meta-analysis study

The main aim of this study was to identify the effect of school managers' leadership behaviours on teachers' organizational justice and organizational citizenship via meta-analysis method. In addition, YÖK Thesis Scanning System in which academic studies in Turkey were archived and ULAKBİM data base, Dergipark, Google Academic, EBSCO, SOBİAD, ASOS data base were analysed and literature search was conducted. Thanks to advanced scanning strategy, 44 researches about the relationship between school leadership and organizational justice and 38 researches about the relationship between school leadership and organizational citizenship behavior were reached. The study was transferred to the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Pragramme after being transferred to Excel and was analysed. All meta-analyses were based on the random effects model. A moderator analysis was conducted for the variables of leadership styles, education level and publication type with the average effect size on school leadership's perceptions of organizational justice and organizational citizenship behaviors. According to the discovery by the meta-analysis it has been understood that school leadership has a big effect on the teachers' organizational justice perception [r = .58]. Under the influence of leadership behaviour which school manager has showed on organizational justice, different leadership style has been examined according to the random effect style and the influence gap has been found significant statistically (Qb = 20.02, p<.05). However, it was observed that the moderators of the teaching level and publication type did not have a statistically significant effect on the perception of organizational justice. According to the discovery by meta-analysis it was understood that school leadership had a medium-level effect on teachers' organizational citizenship [r = .37]. The effect of leadership styles, which is the moderator variable of the study, on organizational citizenship behavior was found to be statistically significant (Qb =86.76, p<.05). On the other hand, it was seen that the education level and publication type moderators did not have a statistically significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior.
