Abstract (EN)
The subject of our research is The development process of Turkish woman rights and status from Ottoman Empire to 1950. The history of Turkish women is discussed in two parts, before and after İslam, and it is tried to be explanied in chronological order. İn our search, social, political, legal, economic and cultural activities of Turkish women are included. The free women of the steppe culture met with hijap with the acceptance of İslam. After that, women lived their lives according to the principles of the İslamic religion. As a result of the arrangements made during the latter period of the Ottoman Empire, women obtained important rights. Fort the firs time, women started to study in secondary and high schools and continued their education to the next level. Concious women took measures to seek their rights. The greatest support to the women's struggle came from intellectuals. Women under the influence of the West established associations and started publishing newspapers and magazines during period. The Turkish woman gained her original status with the declaration of the Republic.
