Investigation of the relational resilience capacities and the life skills of paralympic athletes

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the relational resilience capacities of Paralympics athletes and the life skills level the various variables (gender, disability type, branch type, age, education level and sports period). The universe of the research will be athletes affiliated to the Turkish Paralympic Committee (TPC). The sample of the research consist of 50 athletes (18 female and 32 male) participating in the Paralympic Games in 2022-2023 in their branch. "Demographic Information Form", "Life Skills Scale for Sport" (LSSS) adapted into Turkish by Düz and Açak (2018) and "Individual Level Relational and Operational Resilience Capacity Scale" developed by Gerçek and Börekçi (2017) were used as data collection tools in the research. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics as well as normality tests were performed. Since the data were distributed normally, an independent t-test was used for dual comparisons as an ANOVA were used for multiple comparisons. In correlation analysis Paerson's Rho Correlation test was used. According to the results of the study, the relational resilience capacities of Paralympic athletes and the life skills do no significant differences according to the variables of gender, disability type, branch type, age, education level and sports period, but the effect on life skills and relational resilience capacity of athletes, a significant positive relationship was found.
