Prof. Sevgin SAMANCIOĞLU July, 2016, 156 pages The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of individual counselling on prepared on the basis Health Promotion Model on level of self- efficacy, functional capacity and quality of life in obese individuals and the study planned as experimentally. The study was carried out between April 2015- December 2015 in endocrinology clinic's of Adana Dr. Aşkım Tüfekçi State Hospital. Sample of the research consisted of sixty-four obese individuals; 32 counselling group, 32 control group.A routine clinic individual care was administered in the control group whilst a health promotion program and individual counselling in the counsellig group. As data collection instruments, Individual Information Form, Laboratory Finding Form, Exercise Self- Efficacy Scale, Self- Efficacy to Regule Eating Habit Scale, Obesity and Weight Loss Quality- of- Life. Functional capacity was determined by a 6- minute corridor walk test and Pulmonary Function Test. Training slides was used in applying the health promotion model to counselling grups obesity training manuel and reminder magnet was given both groups. The needed permission from the Ethics Committee, a written from the Hospital, and also an informed and written consent from all the participant individuals were obtained in order to conduct the investigation. We were found statistically significant differences in the intervention group in Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist-to-hip ratio, functional capacity, quality of life and in repeated measurements nutrition and exercise self-sufficiency (P< 0.05). As a result; nurse counselling Model of Pender's has been found effective in obese and suggested the implementation of this program in endocrinology clinic.
