Abstract (EN)

Research in randomized controlled experimental design type, 120 children in total, including 60 and control group=60, who were admitted to the children's clinic of an educational and research hospital between February 2020 and June 2020 in order to determine the effects of the therapeutic play method applied during Peripheral Intravenous Catheterization (PIK) on children's pain and anxiety levels and parents' anxiety levels. It was carried out with the UK and its parent. In the collection of data; Data Collection Form, FLACC pain scale for children, CEMS anxiety scale and STAI- I anxiety scale were used for parents. The mean pre-intervention pain and anxiety scores of children in the experimental and control group were similar (p>0.05). During the PIK, the mean pain score of the children was 4.45±3.18 in the experimental group, the mean score was 7.25±2.81 points in the control group, 6.08±5.91 in the experimental group, 18.8±6.34 points in the control group and there was a statistically significant difference between them (p=0.000). It was determined that the average anxiety score of the parents was similar before piK (p=0.812), while during the PIK it was 38.06±18.9 in the experimental group, 64.68±18.56 in the control group and there was a statistically significant difference between them (p=0.000). A statistically significant corral was found between parents' anxiety score and children's pain and anxiety scores at a strong and positive level (p<0.05). As a result; During the PIK, it was determined that the therapeutic play method applied to children between the ages of 3 and 6 was an effective method of reducing both children's pain and anxiety and their parents' anxiety.
