Abstract (EN)

OBJECTIVE: In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of quercetin which has an antioxidant effect, irisin which has been shown to reduce insulin resistance and growth hormone which is promising as an adjuvant in the treatment of infertility, on endometrial receptivity and oocyte maturation in rats with polycystic ovary syndrome. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Six groups of control, PCOS, PCOS + Ethanol, PCOS + Quercetin, PCOS + Irisin and PCOS + Growth Hormone were formed using 4-week old female Wistar Albino rats. 1mg/kg letrozole was given to establish the PCOS model. At the end of the treatment, biochemical analysis was performed with serum samples, and histological and immunohistochemical evaluation was performed with uterine and ovarian tissues. For this purpose, the distribution of αvβ3 integrin, LIF Muc-1, EGF for endometrial receptivity, and GDF 9 and BMP 15 antibodies for oocyte maturation were examined. RESULTS: The presence of graff follicles in the treatment groups also showed the appearance of corpus luteum and corpus albicans, while the immunoreactivity of GDF 9 and BMP 15 was positive in all follicles when examined, indicating that the ovarian morphology in PCOS had improved and supported immunohistochemical results. There was a statistically significant difference in avß3 integrin, LIF and EGF immunoreactivity in the treatment groups compared to PCOS endometrium (p<0.05). There was no significant statistical difference in Muc-1 compared to PCOS and treatment groups (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: Quercetin, Irisin, Growth Hormone have been shown to have significant benefits on endometrial receptivity, ovarian morphology, and ovulation. Quercetin, Irisin and Growth Hormone may be promising agents in the treatment of PCOS as a supplement to conventional therapies.
