Abstract (EN)

The position of women in society began to be questioned with declaration of the Tanzimat in the ottoman Empire. The arrangement made women visible in society and allowed women to take part in education, work and community. Changes in the status of women have taken place with the proclamation of the Republic, and women started to demand political rights. Although the Turkish Women's Union brought these political rights demands to the agenda from time to time, yet it was in 1930 that women gained political rights. The Turkish women obtained her political rights by recognizing her right to participate in the 1930 municipal elections, the recognition of her right to vote and be elected in the 1933 village elections, and finally the recognition of her right to be elected and selected in 1934. İn this study, the purpose is to determine the discourse and attitudes about women's political rights based on of the process of obtaining the political rights of Turkish women.
