Abstract (EN)

This study tackles the question of how different atmospheres created by light-shadow experienced in physical space are reflected in fine art painting. In the first section, the concept of space is defined through an understanding of location and bodily position as well as an understanding of the subject's perception of space. It also analyses how spacial boundaries are determined through its constituent elements and the relationship between space and human being. In the second section, the concept of home is discussed through the relationship between architectural structure-space-human and defined through the space of home. The house realm is investigated within the framework of the distinction between interior and exterior space, through elements such as doors and windows that function both as transitions and borders. The interior genre painting is explained through the subjective and objective approaches of light-shadow and the oppositions of interior-exterior transience in space. In the third section, the nature of light and its relationship with space are explained through previous literature. The effects of the objective and subjective understanding of art in the creation of painting are examined with regards to use of light-shadow in painting on its plasticity, its content and its relationship with space-light-shadow, as well as through the idea of interior-exterior, by focusing on artworks from 15th to the 19th century. In the last section, the spaces which the author constructs in her paintings are explained, in light of data examined in the previous chapters, through the concept of home, and the effect of the use of light and shadow on the content and plasticity of the painting. Keywords: Painting, Space, Interior, House, Light-Shadow.
