Effects of serum Ferritin, Pro-BNP, hmocystein levels on stroke type, stroke severity and prognosis in cerebro vasculer tromboembolic emergency department patients

Abstract (EN)
Stroke is third common reason of death after coronary arterial disease and cancers, not only in the developed countries in whole world. By evaluating risk factors, careful and quick norological examination and appropriate imaging methods ischemic stroke can be diagnosed. The measurement of biomarkers in circulation makes diagnosing stroke and evaluating prognosis simpler.In this study we compared Pro-Bnp, homosistein, ferritin plasma levels with lateralization of stroke, subgroups of stroke, clinical progress and prognosis also we evaluated the role of new generation biomarkers, Glascow Coma, National Institute of Health Stroke (NIHSS), TOAST, Glascow Outcome Scores on diagnosis.CRP, LDL, VLDL, HDL, Total Cholesterol, Trigliserit, WBC, Pro-BNP, Homosistein, Ferritin serum levels had statistical difference between patient and control groups but PTZ-INR had no differance.We couldn?t find any relation between NIHS Scala and serum homosistein levels but statistical relation was found between plasma homocystein levels and atherosclerotic and cardioembolic stroke subgroups. When plasma homocystein levels are compared between control, transient ischemic attack and lacuner infarct groups no statistical relation was found. When plasma homocystein levels are compared between control and stroke subgroups (according to OCSP classification) statistical relation was found but no statistical difference was found when stroke subgroups are compared among themselves.We couldn?t find any statistical difference between plasma ferritin levels and NIHS scala. When plasma ferritin levels are compared between control and stroke subgroups (according to OCSP classification) statistical relation was found but no statistical difference was found when stroke subgroups(according to OCSP classification) are compared among themselves. When plasma ferritin levels are compared between stroke subgroups only cardioembolic and lacunar infarct subtypes of stroke (according to TOAST criteries) had statistical difference.We found any statistical difference between plasma pro-BNP levels and NIHS scala. When plasma pro-BNP levels are compared between control and stroke subgroups according to TOAST criterias; pro-BNP levels were statistically higher in atherosclerotic and cardioembolic stroke subtypes. When plasma pro-BNP levels are compared between control and stroke subgroups (according to OCSP classification) statistical relation was found. . When plasma pro-BNP levels are compared between stroke subgroups(according to OCSP classification); total anterior circulation infarct and posterior circulation infarct had statistical difference.In our study homocystein, ferritin, pro-BNP levels had statistical relation with mortality.Multivariated analysis showed that lack of comorbid disease (p=0,018), serum Pro-BNP (p=0,006) ve ferrritin (p=0,043) levels were independent predictors of mortality.
