Abstract (TR)
Objective; the purpose of this study was to examine the cochleotoxic effects of cisplatin with high-frequency audiometry, to investigate the effects of posturography and cisplatin on balance, and to compare the static posturography results of patients who developed cochleotoxicity according to ASHA criteria and those who did not. Methods; thirty cancer patients were included in the study. Before starting cisplatin and one day after the end of the treatment; Pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, high-frequency audiometry, acoustic immitansmetry, and posturography tests were performed. Findings; according to ASHA criteria, ototoxicity developed in 17 (56.6%) of 30 patients. Tetrax IBSTM stability index showed statistical differences after treatment in all eight sensory conditions in Group 2, and in NC, PO and PC in Group 1 (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found in the weight distribution index values after treatment in PC, HB and HF in Group 1, and in NC, PC, HL, HB, HF in Group 2 (p<0.05). In Fourier index analysis, the postural control performance in Group 2 (F2- 4), (F5-6), (F7-8) frequencies, in Group 1, (F5-6) and (F7-8) frequencies compared with pre-treatment significant deterioration was detected after treatment (p<0.05). When comparing the post-treatment Fourier index values between the groups with and without hearing loss (F2-4), a significant difference was found in the frequency range of NC, PO, PC and HL, HB, HF (p<0.05). Results; deviations in these frequencies indicate that the somatosensory and central nervous systems are affected. These results may indicate the coexistence of cochlear toxicity and vestibular toxicity. The deterioration of balance performance in the patient group who did not develop hearing loss compared top re-treatment shows that the patient who received cisplatin without hearing loss were also at risk in terms of balance. As a result, it is recommended to evaluate balance functions along with hearing in the routine follow-up of patients taking cisplatin.
