A sociological view of the National Vision Movement as a political ideology

In this study, the position of young people who met the National Vision Movement as a political ideology in the 90s, their contributions, how they were influenced by the movement and the place of the National Vision Movement in political Islam from the beginning to the present will be discussed. In general, the birth, development of the movement of Pan-islamism and its view of social change and youth in following process; in particular, as a political ideology the National Opinion movement with the perspective of the youth members of the National Vision Movement will be examined from the sociological perspective. Qualitative research techniques were used in the study process. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 people between the ages of 40-50 residing in Ankara. Participants who had experienced the beginning years of the National Vision Movement were asked questions about the ideas of the National Opinion movement in the 90s, how much they were influenced by this idea as young people of that era, and whether they still have the same ideas today. iv As a result of the interviews conducted in this study, it was observed that the participants who were asked questions were influenced by the ideas of the National Vision Movement in their youth and they have the same ideas today. At the same time, when it comes to politics, they stated that the participants supported politics, but the state of marginalization caused by political differences was against the MGH principles. Furthermore the leader gap that emerged after the death of Necmettin Erbakan, the charismatic leader of the movement, was especially emphasized.In addition to these, it was understood that MGH was both a political movement and a religious group.
