Abstract (EN)
This study seeks answers to the question of how and in what ways Hitler and Stalin used propaganda in their speeches during the Second World War (1939-1945). The events of the "Treaty of Non-aggression between Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", "Operation Barborassa" and " Battle of Stalingrad" that took place during this time period and affected the course of the war will be examined in special. Two months before and two months after the dates of the case studies, speeches made by the two leaders against the communities were selected by random sampling method and discourse analysis was conducted. The speeches made during these periods were chosen based on the dates when the pact was signed, the Barbarossa campaign began and the Stalingrad War ended. The study seeks answers to the question of how the two leaders convey their analysis of speeches made during this period to the masses through speeches around the five common codes. The codes" enemy, testimony, homogenization, cult of leader, victory " attempted to answer the question of how the two leaders motivated the masses in their speeches by using the method of comparative discourse analysis. The study attempted to be strengthened by secondary sources such as speeches and posters made in previous periods. In this way, the consistency, change and reflections of discourses in practice are examined. The motivation of this work is to make a modest contribution to literature by explaining how the two exemplary leaders use propaganda in their rhetoric to convince the masses of war. Key Words: Hitler, Stalin, Non-Aggression Pact, Barbarossa, Stalingrad War
