United Nations role in solving international problems post cold war era

In this study, the efficiency of the United Nations in solving problems in the Post-Cold War Era is put under question by analyzing the notion of security. Security problems have undergone changes after the Cold War, and there has been a remarkable increase in civil wars, terrorism, genocide, organized crime and siber-terrorism. While the world has been changing and transforming, there has been no major change in the structure and politics of the United Nations. This resulted in the UN- as an anachronic organisation-not being able to come up with solutions towards problems. In the centre of the work, the reasons why the United Nations has lost its function were investigated and its failure in ensuring international security and peace is embodied through cases such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea and Kuwait wars, Bosnia and Rwanda genocides, civil wars in Somalia and Syria. This failure in organisational structure, in its reaction towards globalisation, its stance against new threats, as well as the changes in humanitarian intervention are reviewed in detail and the need to undergo a radical revision is emphasized
