Abstract (EN)

The Ancient City of Soloi-Pompeipolis is located in the Cilicia Region. In ancient sources, the city is referred to as the east of the ancient Lamas Stream (Today Limonlu Stream), which is like the border between the island of Kilikia Thrakheia and Kilikia Pedias. The plain is accepted as the western border for Cilicia. The earliest finds in the city are dated to the Neolithic-Chalcolithic Period. The name of the city began to be called Soloi Pompeiopolis when Pompeus named it Pompeiopolis in 67 BC. The city was settled by colonists in the 7th century BC. This city was captured by the Sassanid King Shapur in the 3rd century AD. The settlement in the city came to an end with the earthquake that took place on the entire Mediterranean coast in 525 AD. In the city, there are the Antique Port, Port Street, Aratos Mausoleum, Theatre, Bath Structures, Kale Village Structure, Mezitli Esenbağlar Neighborhood Vaulted Grave Structure, Necropolis Area and Mound settlement, and yet unidentified structures and architectural elements. Kale Village Structure and Mezitli Esenbağlar Neighborhood Vaulted Grave Structure deal with the scope of this thesis for the first time. 13 artifacts evaluated together with other finds indicated the existence of other structures in the settlement apart from their known past.
