Abstract (EN)

Medicine; It started to develop as a branch of science in the ancient Greek and Roman periods, in the 5th century BC. One of the accepted medical rules since the early periods is that there is a direct relationship between medical science and nutrition. The phenomenon of nutrition has changed according to the age, gender, geographical region and even religion of the person. In the Ottoman period, nutrition, digestion and sanitary rules focused on these facts. Ottoman medicine; It has provided a wide range of information about traditional practices, in which preventive medicine is at the forefront and generally protecting people from diseases and finding cures for diseases. In our study, the work of Besim Ömer, one of the late Ottoman doctors, named "Mi 'de, Tegaddî ve Hazma Dâ'ir Kavâ'id-i Sıhhiye" has been tried to be evaluated. In the mentioned work, nutrition, digestion and sanitary rules are mentioned intensively and there is important information about these subjects. Our study consists of three parts, in the first part, information about the historical process of food and nutrition from the past to the present is given, in the second part, digestive system diseases and hygiene issues are mentioned, and in the third part, the transcription and evaluation of the work is made.
