The effect of teaching social studies with interactive computer based training on students? success

The social, economical and scientific developments and changes in our life effect daily life and human relations. This effect, naturally leads to changes in the educational curriculum. These rapid scientific and technological developments have reached such an extent, that we need to improve our educational curriculum in order to raise better equipped people. In this case a sound Social Studies education enables people to cope well with these rapid and constant changes in our society. Recent research and applications in education influence the traditional teaching methods and evaluations deeply.In this research it was observed that the interactive, computer based education in Social Studies has raised students? success. According to this research, there are differences in academic success between the students who were educated in computer aided Social Studies class and the students who were educated in interactice, computer aided Social Studies class. Studying the work related to this subject, shows that the success of students is raised by interactive, computer aided education. As a conclusion, it is observed that more importance should be given to be interactive, computer assisted Social Studies education in order to achieve a more active, versatile and permanent education.
